Janney Global Water Index Selected as Underlying Index for European ETF

New York City (PRWEB) October 1, 2008 -- The Janney Global Water Index (http://www.janneywaterindexes.com) (TICKER: JGI), a leading financial indicator of the global water industry, has been selected as the underlying index for an Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) listed on European stock exchanges. The ETFS Janney Global Water Fund is sponsored by London based asset manager, ETF Securities (ETFS).

The ETF is registered in Ireland and has been listed on both the Irish Stock Exchange (TICKER: ETLF ID) and the Amsterdam Stock Exchange (TICKER: WATE NA). ETFS plans to cross list the ETF on other European and international stock exchanges, including the London Stock Exchange.

The Janney Global Water Index is the definitive benchmark index for water stocks from around the world. Entirely rules-based, the index contains 60 stocks, including 30 water utilities and 30 water technology and infrastructure stocks.

Says Joseph LaCorte, Chairman of the Janney Water Index Committee, "The effective use of the world's water resources is a crucial factor in the global development process and the Janney Global Water Index pinpoints those companies that are central to the process."

As a European-registered fund, the ETFS Janney Global Water Fund is not open to investment by US persons.
